On September 21, 2023, Place des Arts will celebrate its 60th anniversary. Born of Montrealers' desire to endow themselves with a concert hall that lived up to the city's expectations, the Place des Arts was conceived in 1955 by a group of influential businessmen at the direction of Montreal's then mayor, Jean Drapeau. In 1958, the Centre Sir-George-Étienne-Cartier Corporation was officially created and it was through this entity that the project was taken to completion. Construction began on February 11, 1961.

There are few artists today who did not set foot on their first stage at Club Soda. Indeed, Club Soda had the honor of welcoming a host of local artists from all walks of life, but also stands out internationally. Club Soda had the privilege of welcoming immense talents who made a mark with their presence. The story of Club Soda begins in 1982, when Guy Gosselin, André Gagnon (filmmaker) and Martin Després gave themselves the mandate to transform a reception room on Avenue du Parc into a new kind of cabaret. The latter inaugurated by Boule Noire, then marked, a few months later, with the first of the Lundis des Ha! Ha! hosted by Ding and Dong. Three years later, producers Michel Sabourin and Rubin Fogel, along with Martin Després, acquired Club Soda. The room quickly became a real melting pot for the entertainment industry in Quebec. In 1999, due to lack of space and disuse, the cabaret on Avenue du Parc closed definitively, only to rise from its ashes a few months later, where it still takes root to this day on Boulevard Saint-Laurent. Custom-designed by renowned Montreal architect Luc Laporte, Club Soda is quickly becoming a must-see at major festivals that contribute to Montreal's cultural excitement.
