Later as an adult I went to university to study graphic design and commercial art. I love the creative arts! Sooo much of those creative skills I brought to my cake decoration. Nany’s cakes (originally Le gâteau charmant/The charming cake) started in 2006. Formalizing my business venture as a mom of 2 kids was not easy but I was following my passion for baking, and that made me really happy. I built my website (hope you like it!), took my own pictures, and do all the baking…and I love it

Hello, My name is Jacqueline aka, Mama J I have lived most of my adult life in the United States. In 2005, the rollercoaster of life brought me back home to Montreal, Canada. With the environment being what it was, I was in need of a vocation to provide for my family. After a talk with my maker and period of reflection, I decided to do what made me happy, gave me peace, allowed me to be creative, and render much joy to others. Thus Mama J’s Cakes was born!
In 1993, I was invited to a dinner party where it was my job to make the dessert. I decided to make a cheesecake, it was a success. Everyone could not believe that I had made it, and wanted more. At work, whenever there was a team builder or potluck, I would bring my cakes. Soon thereafter my coworkers began requesting my cakes for their dinner parties and social events. People would be so happy and excited when they ate my cakes.
