Montreal is known as one of the most romantic cities in Canada, not only for its French-speaking culture but also for the dreamy spots located throughout the city. You don't always need to go out and spend tons of money with your significant other to have a memorable time. Spending quality time together while being in nature makes for a beautiful, meaningful and priceless adventure. Lucky for us, there are tons of stunning parks and nature spots to take your lover to. 1. Mont Royal Lookout
This is probably an obvious one, but you really can’t go wrong with it. Whether it be summer or winter, the Mont Royal Lookout is always a perfect spot for a romantic date with your partner. You get to cuddle up on the top of the mountain while looking at a beautiful view of downtown Montreal. You can drive to the lookout, or if you’re in for a mini adventure with your partner, you can hike to the top. Since it’s wintertime, make sure to wear proper boots and winter clothing! The walk begins at Peel Metro station where you will go on a 2-kilometer walk up to the mountain, which will take about an hour or more. Along the way, you will enjoy some beautiful trails and paths. 2. La Fontaine Park
This charming park is located in the Plateau, and it is a great spot for a romantic stroll. Although it is wintertime, the landscape is beautiful and the brisk, fresh air will do you and your partner some good! You’ll even witness others snowshoeing and sliding down the mountain as you and your partner wander along the park. If you’re up for a fun activity with your loved one, you can skate on the frozen pond for a fun winter sport. It’s quite magical if you ask me! This scenic park is located in the middle of the city, so you and your beau can go grab a bite to eat at one of the surrounding restaurants and cafes after your stroll.

3. Old Port of Montreal
This shouldn’t even come as a surprise! Old Port is like a little taste of Europe right here in Montreal, and what could be more romantic than that? Just walking along the cobblestone streets on Place-Jacques Cartier is a romantic activity in of itself. It’s a great place to visit no matter what the season, and the fact that there is snow and the rivers are frozen this time of year makes it extra magical. There are plenty of cute activities you can do with your partner, such as going on the Ferris wheel and skating on the Natrel Basin. If you want to keep it low key, head on over to Notre-Dame de Basilica to sit and admire the beauty of this Gothic Revival church. Then you can make your way to Tommy Café to cozy up with your partner, a gorgeous café just a few steps away!

4. Parc des Rapides
This is another beautiful park with gorgeous scenery during the wintertime. Located in Lasalle and known as “the real jewel of mother nature,” here you and your lover can enjoy the tranquility of this little island. You can overlook the river and its powerful rapids, and take a leisurely walk along the trails for a quiet, romantic day date. It’s so beautiful and peaceful; you’ll really feel like you’re somewhere else. They even have a bird sanctuary! You are your lover will truly be swept away by the beauty of this park.

5. St Louis Square
Discover a tranquil oasis right here in the Plateau. This sweet little square is a romantic spot to sit and relax with your loved one, with its majestic trees and Victorian fountain as the centerpiece. Facing the square, you will find beautiful Victorian style houses, which makes for a perfect walking date if you and your partner love looking at old architecture (The houses look like they came out of a fairy tale!) Although there isn’t much to do or see in the wintertime, it’s a nice, quiet spot for a gentle stroll.

6. Île-de-la-Visitation Nature Park
This is one of Montreal’s most urban nature parks where you’ll feel like you’re in the country by the riverside. It’s much less crowded than other parks, making it a lovely taste of nature away from the city. It has over 300 years of history with beautiful scenery and a calm atmosphere, so you will surely have some quiet, quality alone time with your lover. There are beautiful old buildings you can admire while you go on a romantic walk with your partner. You can even find long hiking, snowshoeing, and cross-country skiing trails, as well as other unique activities such as bird watching. Just be aware that there are no restaurants on site, so make sure to eat a full meal beforehand or bring some snacks with you (Some reception chalets do have vending machines).

7. Cap-Saint-Jacques Nature Park
This is Montreal’s largest park and it is bordered by Lac des Deux-Montagnes and Rivière des Prairies. The park has lots of cross-country ski trails, which allows you to cross through plenty of beautiful fields, rivers, and forest landscapes. It also has an ecological farm, which gives it a countryside feel, and a rustic sugar shack where you can taste maple products – a cute and local activity to do with your significant other! If you want to do something extra romantic, why not go on a carriage ride? Cuddling by your lover’s side while you stroll along the beautiful snowy trails of Cap-Saint-Jacques – what could be better? But wait, it gets even more romantic; you can even go for starlight walks - how dreamy!

8. Bois-de-l’île-Bizard Nature Park
A beautiful gem located on the island of Île-Bizard. This park offers a lookout over Lac des Deux-Montagnes, and it also includes sugar maples, cedar groves, and marshes, which can all be explored during your visit. Take advantage of the tranquility of the forest by going for a long walk or skiing with your date on this star-shaped park. It’s the true epitome of natural wealth right in front of your eyes. Although a new bridge for the lookout is currently being built, it’s still a truly romantic spot worth visiting.

9. Bois-de-Liesse Nature Park
This is a century-old forest of black maples trees, perfect for winter loves. This park includes a 158-hectare playing field where you can go cross-country skiing, hiking, snowshoeing, and sledding. During the summertime, it’s a great place to look at wildlife and plants, but until then, you can enjoy the beautiful winter landscape. There are long kilometers of forested trails, bridges, little lookouts, and hidden benches you can discover with your date.

10. Pointe-aux-Prairies Nature Park
Nature and bird lovers, this is for you. This park is located on the eastern tip of the island of Montreal and it is so vast, covering an area of 261 hectares featuring wooded areas, large fields, and swamps. You can go fat biking, skiing, walking, snowshoeing – all while you enjoy the magical and beautiful landscape of the park. There are lots of birds to see so if you want to go bird watching with your date, make sure to bring some binoculars! Also, if you’re lucky, you may even be able to see some white-tailed deer!
