Cinema L'Amour debuted as “Le Globe” in 1914 and was initially a combination of a playhouse and movie theater. Since then, Cinéma L'Amour has managed to survive all these years as an independent theater. When it was built, the theater was located in the heart of Montreal's Jewish community and during the 1920s and 1930s was the main venue for Yiddish films.
In 1932, “The Globe” was renamed the HOLLYWOOD and continued to operate as a playhouse and movie theater until 1969 when it became exclusively a sexual cinema called the PUSSYCAT.
